The Ecco Xi'an office space is unique in its ability to create a free and comfortable open office area. The design team has managed to provide a diversified office with color combinations that infuse vitality into the workspace. This balance between people and space is achieved through the interaction of blocks, generating a number of superimposed parts. The space's rhythm is driven by the collage of materials, creating a contrasting scene.
The realization of this design was made possible through the use of QUARELLA stone, MILLIKEN carpet, DULUX painting, JEB cloth, and KVADRAT glass. The project, which spans an area of 1344 square meters, started in April 2019 and was completed in December of the same year.
One of the key features of the Ecco Xi'an design is the incorporation of elements from the city wall, a tangible cultural heritage in Xi'an. The designers created a leather brick wall blended with ECCO's spirit of "leather innovation". The hanging leather artworks in the lounge are inspired by the Shaanxi shadow puppetry and are completed with ECCO leather. The shoe last, a traditional shoe-making tool, is used to decorate the background wall, stimulating visitors' curiosity about the shoe-making craftsmanship.
Despite the challenges faced during the design process, such as the transitional process of different materials due to the cutting way of geometrical spaces and the production of featured parts, the design team was able to overcome these hurdles. The client's hope for the artworks to combine different cultures of two cities while embodying ECCO's corporate culture was also successfully achieved.
In conclusion, the Ecco Xi'an office design by Dang Ming and Li Dandi is a remarkable fusion of East and West, tradition and modernity. It is a testament to the power of design in creating a workspace that not only fosters productivity but also pays homage to cultural heritage. This design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, is a shining example of the potential of design to transform spaces and inspire those who inhabit them.
